Limestone is a sedimentary rock formed primarily of calcium carbonate, often containing microscopic fossils and shells from ancient marine life. Known for its soft, velvety texture and muted earth tones, it is a staple for creating light-filled, tranquil architectural spaces.
Atmospheric Elegance & Physical Character
Unlike the crystalline shimmer of marble, limestone offers a soft, diffused light reflection. It typically ranks 3-4 on the Mohs scale. Its uniform background and lack of aggressive veining make it the preferred material for massive architectural volumes where a consistent, calm aesthetic is required.
Limestone is an excellent insulator and is frequently specified for exterior facades in mild climates. For high-rise projects, we provide 20mm and 30mm calibrated panels with pre-drilled holes for Mechanical Dry-Hanging systems, ensuring both safety and speed of installation.
Finishes & Maintenance
The beauty of limestone is best expressed in matte finishes. We provide:
- Honed: A smooth, non-reflective surface that highlights the stone's natural fossil remnants.
- Sandblasted: A slightly rougher texture that improves slip resistance for courtyard paving.
- Bush-hammered: A heavy, rhythmic texture for monumental architectural elements.
Procurement Tip
As limestone is more porous than granite, we recommend applying a high-quality oleophobic sealer during installation. All limestone orders from our facility receive a preliminary waterproofing treatment to protect the stone during transit and handling.
