Geological Character & Surface Variants
The natural pores (cavities) in travertine are formed by CO2 escaping during the stone's formation. Depending on the desired aesthetic and application, we provide two primary surface variants:
- Resin/Cement Filled: The cavities are professionally filled with matching resin or cement, then polished or honed for a smooth, consistent surface. Ideal for interior flooring.
- Unfilled: The natural pores are left open, providing a rustic, organic depth frequently specified for exterior wall cladding and feature accents.
Procurement Strategy: Tonal Selection
Travertine is known for its wide tonal range, even within a single block. At our facility, we categorize batches by color intensity (Light, Medium, Silver, Noce). For large commercial projects, we recommend securing all material from a single quarry vein to ensure harmonious background tones.

Travertine ranks at Mohs 3 and is a sedimentary stone. To enhance its durability in high-traffic or wet areas, we offer specialized treatments:
- Brushed/Antiqued: Softens the edges of the pores and provides a non-slip surface ideal for pool decks.
- Tumbled: A weathered, rustic finish for walkways and garden paths.
- Honed: A smooth, low-sheen finish that is popular for indoor boutique floors.
